Veteran quarterback Andy Dalton has revealed why he chose to re-sign with the Carolina Panthers on a two-year deal, expressing optimism about the team’s future.
Dalton, who served primarily as a backup to Bryce Young over the past two seasons, started five games in 2024 after Young struggled early on.
“I think the trajectory of this team is trending in the right direction, and you want to be a part of it,” Dalton said via the Panthers’ official website.
Despite the team’s 5-12 record this season, a modest three-win improvement from the previous year, Dalton remains confident in the Panthers’ potential.
Young, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, showed significant progress late in the season, throwing seven touchdown passes without an interception in his final three games. He also added three rushing touchdowns, helping the Panthers secure two wins against the Arizona Cardinals and Atlanta Falcons.
Dalton, a three-time Pro Bowler, brings valuable experience and mentorship to the young quarterback. The Panthers also have promising pieces to build around, including running back Chuba Hubbard and the No. 8 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, which could add another offensive weapon to the roster.
As the Panthers look to continue their development, Dalton’s leadership and experience will be crucial in guiding the team’s young core.
