Everton’s plans for a major summer rebuild have encountered an early setback, as new Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank is reportedly reconsidering the future of Israeli winger Manor Solomon, temporarily halting the Toffees’ pursuit of the 25-year-old.

Having already secured the permanent signing of Carlos Alcaraz from Flamengo, Everton’s recruitment drive under returning manager David Moyes is gaining pace. With significant backing from the Friedkin Group, the club is targeting key reinforcements ahead of their move to the new Hill Dickinson Stadium — with the addition of a dynamic winger high on the agenda.

Solomon, who enjoyed a standout season on loan with Leeds United in the Championship, quickly emerged as a viable target. Alongside interest in former fan favourite Richarlison, the Israeli international had become a priority for sporting director Kevin Thelwell, as the Toffees sought proven Premier League talent to strengthen their attack.

However, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Tottenham are now planning to retain Solomon for the upcoming season. Newly appointed manager Thomas Frank is reportedly eager to assess the winger during pre-season. The former Brentford boss, who replaces Ange Postecoglou, is expected to overhaul the Spurs squad — and Solomon could yet play a role in his plans.

“Manor Solomon’s gonna start pre-season with Tottenham. Thomas Frank likes what he sees and wants to check him out in training,” Tavolieri reported. “Currently the plan is that Manor’s staying and playing for Tottenham this season.”

The decision presents an unexpected obstacle for Everton, who are now at risk of losing out on another priority target. It also adds uncertainty to the potential return of Richarlison, with Frank said to be open to giving the Brazilian forward another opportunity at the club.

With the transfer window approaching, Everton’s recruitment team must quickly reassess their options. Although Solomon may not have been the marquee target, his availability and top-flight experience made him a valuable prospect. His likely stay at Tottenham will now require a swift tactical shift in strategy from Moyes and his staff.

As the club prepares for a defining 2025/26 campaign, Everton’s ability to adapt in a volatile transfer market could determine the success of their long-term rebuild.
