Alabama football has bolstered its receiving corps with the addition of Miami transfer Isaiah Horton, a 6-foot-4, 205-pound wide receiver poised to make an immediate impact in Tuscaloosa.

Horton, a former four-star recruit from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, brings size, athleticism, and playmaking ability to an Alabama offense that saw multiple receivers depart in the offseason.

After redshirting in 2022, Horton had a breakout season in 2024 for the Hurricanes, hauling in 56 receptions for 616 yards and five touchdowns. His production and physical attributes make him a unique asset for Alabama, which currently lacks a receiver of his stature. Horton is expected to slot in as the Crimson Tide’s No. 3 receiver behind Ryan Williams and Germie Bernard.

Former Miami teammates have praised Horton’s potential, highlighting his work ethic and dynamic skill set. At the Senior Bowl in Mobile, ex-Hurricanes receiver Xavier Restrepo described Horton as a “one-on-one nightmare” with strong hands, deceptive speed, and an ability to make plays in traffic.

Tight end Elijah Arroyo echoed those sentiments, calling Horton a “dog” who brings relentless effort to the field. Offensive lineman Jalen Rivers added that Horton’s size and determination set him apart, emphasizing his ability to elevate his game.

Scouting reports from Pro Football Focus highlight Horton’s reliable hands and large catch radius, noting that he dropped just four passes all season despite being one of Miami’s most heavily targeted receivers. His ability to secure contested catches and adjust to off-target throws makes him a valuable addition to Alabama’s receiving unit.

Horton arrives in Tuscaloosa at a crucial time, as Alabama lost four receivers to the transfer portal this offseason. Kobe Prentice (Baylor), Kendrick Law (Kentucky), Emmanuel Henderson (Kansas), and freshman Caleb Odom (Ole Miss) all departed, creating a pressing need for reinforcements at the position. Horton’s arrival helps fill that void and gives Alabama another dynamic playmaker.

With two years of eligibility remaining, Horton has the opportunity to develop into a key contributor for the Crimson Tide.

If he continues to refine his skills and maintains consistency, he could emerge as a major weapon in Alabama’s passing attack for the 2025 season and beyond.
