Parramatta Eels have opened discussions with the Gold Coast Titans over a potential move for veteran centre Brian Kelly as they look to urgently restock their backline ahead of the 2026 NRL season.

Kelly has emerged as a genuine target for the Eels following the departure of Zac Lomax, who walked out of the club after just one season. Parramatta officials are understood to be working with the Titans and Kelly’s management to explore the financial details of a possible early release, despite the 29-year-old still being contracted to the Gold Coast for next year.

According to reports, Kelly has been informed he will not be re-signed beyond 2026, prompting him to consider extending his NRL career elsewhere and potentially securing a longer-term deal. The Eels see him as an experienced and affordable option who could immediately strengthen their outside backs.

Parramatta’s current backline features Josh Addo-Carr, Will Penisini, Bailey Simonsson, Sean Russell, Jordan Samrani and Joash Papalii, but the club believes Kelly’s experience could add valuable depth. He has played 190 NRL games and scored 66 tries across his time with Manly and the Titans.

While defensive lapses have been noted during his career, new Eels coach Jason Ryles is confident he can improve that area. With at least two open roster spots and salary cap space freed up by Lomax’s near $700,000 exit, Parramatta are well positioned to move quickly as they reshape their 2026 squad.
