Brisbane Broncos fullback Reece Walsh has admitted his team is falling short of expectations in 2024 – but the electrifying No.1 has delivered a passionate message to both critics and loyal fans amid the mounting pressure.

In an exclusive interview, Walsh acknowledged that the Broncos haven’t been performing where it truly matters: on the scoreboard and in key moments of high-stakes games. After a blistering 2023 season that saw the team reach the NRL Grand Final, Brisbane has struggled to recapture that same fire and consistency this year, raising questions about their premiership credentials.

But the 21-year-old State of Origin star is refusing to shy away from accountability. Instead, he’s calling for unity and belief, both within the club and from its devoted fan base.

“We know we haven’t been at our best, and we owe it to the fans and each other to turn it around,” Walsh said. “We’re not hiding from where we are. But we’re not giving up either. We’re building – and we’ll be back.”

Walsh’s message comes at a critical time for Brisbane, who are battling injuries and patchy form as they sit outside the top tier of the ladder midway through the season. Despite individual brilliance from players like Walsh, the team has struggled to string together complete performances.

With Origin distractions, tough fixtures ahead, and finals ambitions still alive, the Broncos’ young leader is urging supporters to stay patient and keep the faith.

“We need that energy behind us. We’re working every day to be better,” Walsh said. “This club means everything to us. We’ll fight for it.”

As the pressure mounts and scrutiny intensifies, Walsh’s words serve as both a challenge to his teammates and a call to arms for the Broncos faithful.
