The Tennessee Volunteers have received promising news in their pursuit of five-star running back Savion Hiter, whose recruitment is now focused on a select group of elite programs.

According to On3’s Steve Wiltfong, the competition has mainly narrowed to Tennessee and Michigan, with both schools preparing to intensify their efforts—particularly through NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) deals—to secure Hiter’s commitment.

While Ohio State and Georgia remain in Hiter’s top four, official visits are scheduled to all four programs. However, the visits to Michigan and Tennessee are considered the most crucial.

Wiltfong noted that both programs view Hiter as a top priority, with Michigan reportedly ranking him as their No. 1 overall recruit.

Hiter himself has denied reports suggesting he has already limited his choices to just two schools, clarifying on social media that such claims are inaccurate since he has not given any interviews on the subject.

His official visits are set to begin with Michigan on the weekend of June 13, followed by Tennessee the weekend after, on June 20.

Savion Hiter holds the distinction of being the No. 1 running back nationally and the top recruit in Virginia for the 2026 class, while also ranked 17th overall by the 247Sports composite rankings.

This places him among the most highly coveted prospects in college football, attracting fierce competition from top-tier programs.

As the recruitment battle intensifies, Tennessee fans have cause for optimism, with their program positioned as a leading contender to secure this transformative talent.

The next few weeks will be critical in determining where Hiter will take his exceptional skills for his college career.
