Auburn’s prized 2026 commit, four-star edge rusher Hezekiah Harris, remains solid in his commitment to the Tigers—for know. However, SEC rivals Florida and Tennessee are actively vying to flip the standout from Huntsville (Ala.) Jemison High School.
Harris, ranked as the No. 11 edge rusher nationally by Rivals, recently wrapped up an official visit to the University of Florida over the weekend. While he praised the Gators’ coaching staff and campus atmosphere, he reiterated his loyalty to Auburn.
“My commitment is still strong with my brother going there and everything,” Harris said, referring to his older brother Malachi Harris, who transferred to Auburn from Austin Peay to join the offensive line.
The 6-foot-4 pass-rushing phenom first committed to Auburn on July 27, 2024, and has since become the top-rated pledge in the Tigers’ 2026 class. Yet, his recruitment is far from over. Harris admitted he plans to keep all options open until signing day in December, with upcoming visits scheduled—most notably to Tennessee in two weeks—and game-day trips to all three schools later in the season.
Though Harris expressed appreciation for Florida’s coaching staff—including head coach Billy Napier and edge rushers coach Mike Peterson—and noted how the program made him feel like a “priority,” he didn’t signal a clear shift in direction.
“He’s a great coach. He let me and my family know I’m a priority for him,” Harris said of Napier. He added that Florida’s strong atmosphere and relational approach made a lasting impression.
Still, Harris emphasized that relationships and personal connections will be crucial as he weighs his options:
“Just keep building relationships with me, because that’s the number one thing for me—connections.”
Despite intensifying interest from SEC competitors, Auburn remains in the driver’s seat. Harris left a recent Tigers visit reaffirming that he had “made the right decision” by committing to the Plains.
As the race heats up, Auburn fans can take solace in Harris’ current stance—but the battle for his signature is far from over.
