The Parramatta Eels have rewarded two of their most promising young talents, Jezaiah Funa-Iuta and William Latu, with their first Top 30 NRL contracts, cementing their status as rising stars within the club’s development system.
Both players, who were previously signed on development contracts for 2026, have now earned upgraded deals that will see them officially join the Eels’ Top 30 roster for the 2027 NRL season.

The promotion is a significant step forward in their careers and reflects the club’s confidence in their long-term potential.
Funa-Iuta, the captain of the Eels’ SG Ball Cup side that reached this year’s Grand Final against the Sydney Roosters, has been a standout in the junior competitions.
His leadership and on-field performances earned him a recent call-up to the Jersey Flegg Cup side, where he continues to impress alongside teammate Lorenzo Talataina.
Meanwhile, Latu has made a strong impact in the club’s NSW Cup squad, playing six matches so far this season.
The emerging forward has already notched a try, two line breaks, 131 tackles, and is averaging 108 running metres per game—statistics that underline his growing influence and work ethic.
“Both William and Jezaiah have shown exceptional growth in their game and commitment to the club,” said Eels General Manager of Football, Mark O’Neill. “They represent the best of what our development system aims to achieve—young players who come through our club, earn their stripes, and are rewarded with opportunities to take the next step to NRL or NRLW level.”
The pair’s elevation is a testament to the Eels’ strong focus on internal talent development, and signals bright futures for both players as they prepare to take the next leap toward NRL competition.
