SYDNEY, NSW – The famous Liddiard name, synonymous with rugby league prowess in Sydney’s west, is poised to dominate headlines once more, this time carried by the next generation.

Jirah Liddiard, nephew of 1980s stars David and Glen Liddiard, is blazing a trail through Penrith Panthers’ junior ranks, showcasing the electrifying talent that runs in the family.

The 21-year-old outside back is making a significant impact in the Panthers’ Flegg Cup (SG Ball) team, demonstrating the trademark pace and flair that made his father, Glen, and uncle, David – a glamour player for both Parramatta and Penrith in his era – such formidable figures on the field. Jirah’s performances are generating considerable excitement within the club and among observers.

His athletic pedigree extends beyond the 13-man code, however. Just a couple of years ago, Liddiard’s exceptional athleticism attracted serious interest from the AFL, with the Greater Western Sydney Giants actively pursuing the young prospect. Despite the allure of a different sporting path, Jirah ultimately chose to honour his family’s deep-rooted connection to rugby league.

Now fully committed to the Panthers’ pathway, Jirah Liddiard is rapidly carving out his own fine career in the lower grades. His combination of speed, skill, and attacking instinct is turning heads and suggesting the Liddiard legacy in Penrith colours is far from over.

Panthers fans and talent scouts alike will be watching closely as this third-generation prospect continues his fiery ascent.
