As the nation marked Memorial Day, former President Donald Trump drew sharp criticism for blending tributes to fallen soldiers with political attacks and personal leisure, sparking a firestorm of condemnation from critics.
During a ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery on Monday, Trump honored military sacrifices, declaring:
“Their courage secured the freedom and greatness of our nation—a republic I’ve worked tirelessly to restore after four grueling years.”
However, his speech quickly pivoted to grievances, as he lambasted President Joe Biden and the judiciary, asking, “Who let this country deteriorate so badly?” before departing to golf at his Virginia club.

Earlier in the day, Trump escalated tensions by posting a combative message on Truth Social, labeling Biden and certain judges as “scum.” The juxtaposition of his actions—mixing solemn remembrance with divisive rhetoric and recreation—left many outraged.
“I’m beyond disgusted,” wrote former Republican Congressman Joe Walsh, a vocal Trump critic, on X.
“A man who avoided Vietnam with fake bone spurs, mocked POWs, and called heroes ‘suckers and losers’ now desecrates their memory. No commander-in-chief has ever shown such contempt for our troops.”
Walsh’s rebuke echoed across social media. The account Patriot Takes noted:
“Trump plans to spend more time golfing than honoring the fallen—a ‘bone-spur’ draft dodger prioritizing himself, as usual.”
Author Scott Howard added:
“Seeing veterans support Trump baffles me. Do they forget being branded ‘losers’ by this coward?”
Meanwhile, user @aeroaceleed quipped:
“Trump limped during the ceremony, blaming ‘acting-up bone spurs’—proof even his body rejects his lies.”
The backlash underscored deepening divisions over Trump’s conduct, as critics accused him of exploiting a sacred holiday for personal and political gain.
