The Parramatta Eels have reportedly activated the 2026 club option in star winger Josh Addo-Carr’s contract, securing his services for another season.
Addo-Carr, who joined the Eels this year following a stint with the Canterbury Bulldogs, has been a standout performer in his nine appearances, scoring seven tries, assisting two, and averaging 146 running meters per game.
His current deal included a mid-June deadline for the club to exercise the extension clause, but Parramatta moved early to lock in the veteran flyer ahead of Sunday’s clash against the Penrith Panthers, per The Daily Telegraph.
The decision leaves Bryce Cartwright, Haze Dunster, Joey Lussick, and Wiremu Greig as the only remaining players in the squad without contracts beyond this season.
While Addo-Carr is now confirmed for 2026, he will become eligible to negotiate with rival clubs from November 1 for the 2027 season. However, the 29-year-old has openly expressed his desire to remain at Parramatta long-term, recently telling The Sydney Morning Herald:
“I’d love to [finish my career here]. I love Parra. Rylesy [coach Jason Ryles] was the only person who backed me, so I told him I wouldn’t let him down.”
The former NSW Blues and Kangaroos representative also reiterated his ambition to return to representative football, stating:
“To play with the best players in the world, I’d love to get that opportunity again. I definitely miss it.”
Addo-Carr’s retention bolsters an Eels side aiming to climb the NRL ladder, with his speed and experience remaining pivotal to their campaign.
