The New Orleans Saints made a significant addition to their roster this week, signing two-time Super Bowl champion Justin Reid to a three-year deal.
Reid, a standout defensive back, previously spent three seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs, where he played a key role in their back-to-back Super Bowl victories.
The 27-year-old Stanford alum entered free agency after the Chiefs opted not to retain him. Reid brings a wealth of experience to the Saints, boasting 10 interceptions, six sacks, and three forced fumbles over his six-year NFL career.
The signing comes as the Saints continue to reshape their defense under new head coach Kellen Moore, who was recently hired after serving as the Philadelphia Eagles’ offensive coordinator. Reid’s arrival follows the departure of cornerback Paulson Adebo, who reportedly agreed to a deal with the New York Giants.
In addition to Reid, the Saints also locked in tight end Juwan Johnson with a three-year extension worth up to $34.5 million, including incentives. Johnson, who transitioned from wide receiver to tight end in 2022, has become a reliable target, recording 1,622 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns in his career.
The Saints are looking to rebound after a challenging season, and Reid’s leadership and playmaking ability could be pivotal in their quest to return to playoff contention.
