The Pittsburgh Steelers have secured former Dallas Cowboys linebackers coach Scott McCurley for their vacant inside linebackers coach position.
McCurley, who was not retained by new Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer, returns to his roots in Western Pennsylvania.
A native of New Castle, McCurley attended Mohawk Area High School and played college football at the University of Pittsburgh. After a three-year stint as a graduate assistant at Pitt, he joined the NFL ranks under Mike McCarthy, then head coach of the Green Bay Packers.

McCurley climbed the coaching ladder, eventually becoming the Cowboys’ linebackers coach in 2020.
During his tenure in Dallas, McCurley played a key role in developing standout players like Micah Parsons and Demarvion Overshown, while also guiding rookie Marist Liufau to a strong 2024 season.
McCurley’s hiring marks the Steelers’ second offseason addition following the departure of Aaron Curry to the New York Jets. He joins defensive backs coach Gerald Alexander as part of the team’s revamped coaching staff.
