Four-star safety Lasiah Jackson, one of the nation’s top defensive back prospects, left Tuscaloosa with a strong impression of the Alabama Crimson Tide following his unofficial visit this past weekend.
The 6-foot-3, 170-pound standout from Leesburg, Georgia, didn’t hold back when sharing his thoughts on the program, signaling Alabama’s growing appeal in his recruitment process.
“A place like Alabama is where the best of the best go,” Jackson told On3. “That’s where iron sharpens iron. Coach Maurice Linguist, the defensive backs coach, feels really confident about me coming in next year and being able to compete with the other guys. I definitely plan on going back in the spring. Alabama is just different.”
Jackson’s comments are a testament to the efforts of head coach Kalen DeBoer and his staff, who are working to build momentum on the recruiting trail despite a 9-4 season that some viewed as underwhelming. For a first-year SEC head coach, however, DeBoer’s debut campaign was a solid foundation, and his ability to connect with elite recruits like Jackson is a promising sign for the program’s future.
Ranked as the No. 14 safety in the nation and the No. 19 player in Georgia by 247Sports, Jackson is a highly sought-after prospect. His visit to Alabama has undoubtedly elevated the Crimson Tide’s standing in his recruitment, but the battle for his commitment is far from over.
While Jackson expressed strong interest in Alabama, he emphasized that he is keeping his options open.
“Despite my great experience at Alabama this past weekend, I’m currently keeping my options open,” Jackson told On3.
Other programs in the mix for the four-star recruit include Florida State, Georgia Tech, and Michigan.
Alabama’s ability to make a lasting impression on Jackson highlights the program’s enduring appeal, even in a transitional phase under DeBoer. As the recruiting cycle continues, all eyes will be on Jackson’s upcoming visits and whether the Crimson Tide can solidify their position as his top choice.
For now, Alabama fans can take solace in knowing that their program remains a destination for elite talent, with Jackson’s visit serving as a reminder of the program’s ability to attract the nation’s best.
